On the right side of this image of Chiliville, I noticed the Shell Service Station sign.

Here’s a closer view of the sign. Barbur Boulevard between SW Terwilliger Boulevard and Tigard was once home to an incredible array of neon signage. Now, the Capitol Hill Motel sign is all that remains.

During the day, the Shell logo on this sign would have looked something like this.

During the night, however, it would have been an incredible sight. The yellow rays probably pulsed on from the bottom of the sign to the top in a wave, perhaps alternating with all of the rays flashing on and off, or lighting up one at a time. I searched the internet for a similar sign, but could not find one. Were you lucky enough to see this sign in action?
